Montrese Hamilton chose library science to be her second career.
Graduating from the University of Miami with a BBA in finance and management, she moved
through the ranks in human resources to become a certified Professional in Human Resources
whilst doing recruitment and hiring for Capital Bank in Miami. The research aspect of her HR
work led her to shift gears and pursue a Master of Science in Library Science degree at
Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., from which she will graduate in May 2000.
Montrese's library experience has evolved to her current position at the American Health Care
Association where she is preparing for promotion to full-time researcher. Send her a
note at trese@bellatlantic.net.
Joan O'Kane brings a diverse educational and career background to the field
of librarianship. She has a BA in political science and economics from the
University of Connecticut, an MBA in finance from Marymount University,
and will graduate in May 2000 with an MSLS from Catholic University of America.
She has 13 years experience in finance and accounting, including positions as
a savings and loan regulator, a securities analyst, and a financial systems
consultant. Her library experience includes work as an acquisitions specialist
in a military library, a reference assistant in an academic library, and as a
reference librarian in a corporate library. Her career goal is to be self-employed
as a freelance librarian or information broker. She can be reached at okanejm@aol.com.
