Professional Organizations
This web site provides information about the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). It includes frequently asked questions, quotes from musicians, artist spokespersons, music therapy listservs, researching music therapy, performing music therapy with specific populations, and how to find a music therapist. The site also contains information on careers in music therapy, which includes a listing of institutions offering music therapy programs. Benefits of membership in AMTA are described, and information on products for sale is given. Finally, under "events and news," there is information on conferences as well as a research fund.
This web site contains up-to-date information on music therapy in America. It appears to be updated regularly. The only downside to this web site is that there is a certain amount of sales pressure due to requests for donations and the offering of products for sale.
This listserv "provides information, discussion and ideas concerning music therapy for music
therapists, and other related professionals, such as psychologists, educators, and gerontologists."
