How Do I Setup MY NT Account & Change My Password?

Obtaining an NT Account: NT computing accounts are set up through the Center for Planning and Information Technology (CPIT) during regular business hours. You will need to fill in the Password Account form. You may click on this password form link and printout, then fill in the form. You may take or mail the form to CPIT in Leahy Hall Room 200, Catholic University, Washington, DC 20064, or fax it to 202-319-6690. Your account information will be mailed, faxed or you may pick it up in person.

Choose a good password:. An NT acount consists of a user name and a password. Your user name is the last two digits of your Social Security Number and your last name and will stay the same throughout your time at CUA-SLIS. Your password must be changed every semester. You will be issued a temporary password by CPIT. This temporary password must be changed or it will expire. Your new password must be at least 6-8 characters long, and cannot be a password you have used before, or your name, or any word that can be found in the dictionary. Hint: Put the 2 digits of the day of the month you were born, month itself or year you were born in front of a common word you won't forget.

Changing my password on Windows XP:

To change your password you must first log into Windows XP using your user name and temporary password or old password. When the Windows desktop appears, type Ctrl, Alt, Del and the security window will appear with six options. Choose Change Password.

This will open the Change Password window

Now, select the "Change Password..." button in the "Windows Security" dialog box.

Enter your Old Password, New Password then Confirm New Password. Press OK.

If you have entered the password correctly, a confirmation dialog box will apppear. Your Windows Password is now changed! Logout then login with your new password to test it.
