SLIS Listserv Instructions 

The School of Library and Information at CUA maintains several lists that serve our community:

Student Listserv (LIBSCI-L)

Because many of our students live, work and study away from CUA's main campus, this listserv is the primary means of communication between the school and the students. NOTE: It is assumed that students are subscribed and many important messages are distributed only via the listserv.

To subscribe to the Student listserv:

  • Send an e-mail from the account you wish to subscribe to: listserv[at]lists.cua.edu.
  • In the body of the message, include the following code:
  • subscribe LIBSCI-L firstname lastname (example: subscribe LIBSCI-L John Doe)

To unsubscribe from the Student listserv:

  • Send an e-mail from the account you wish to unsubscribe to: listserv[at]lists.cua.edu.
  • In the body of the message, include the following code: SIGNOFF LIBSCI-L

To send a message to the Student listserv once you are subscribed:

  • Send an e-mail from the account with which you are subscribed to: LIBSCI-L[at]lists.cua.edu
    IMPORTANT: You must leave the subject line of your message blank.
  • Note: listserv moderators reserve the right to review messages before broadcasting.

Alumni Listserv (SLISALUM-L)

SLIS also maintains a listserv for alumni. Special invitations to SLIS events, and other occasional news and announcements are sent via this listserv.

To subscribe to the Alumni listserv:

  • Send an e-mail from the account you wish to subscribe to: listserv[at]lists.cua.edu.
  • In the body of the message, include the following code:
  • subscribe SLISALUM-L firstname lastname (example: subscribe SLISALUM-L John Doe)

To unsubscribe from the Alumni listserv:

  • Send an e-mail from the account you wish to unsubscribe to: listserv[at]lists.cua.edu.
  • In the body of the message, include the following code: SIGNOFF SLISALUM-L

Job Postings Listserv (LIS-JOBS)

SLIS also maintains a listserv for job postings. Many employers send job announcements to the school for distribution to students and alumni. NOTE: Both students and alumni are welcome and encouraged to join this list.

To subscribe to the Jobs listserv:

  • Send an e-mail from the account you wish to subscribe to: listserv[at]lists.cua.edu.
  • In the body of the message, include the following code:
  • subscribe LIS-JOBS firstname lastname (example: subscribe LIS-JOBS John Doe)

To unsubscribe from the Jobs listserv:

  • Send an e-mail from the account you wish to unsubscribe to: listserv[at]lists.cua.edu.

Adjunct Faculty Listserv:

SLIS maintains a listserv for adjunct faculty members. Its purpose is to provide adjunct faculty members a forum to discuss common issues. You can subscribe to this list by sending an email to  listserv@lists.cua.edu in the body of the message include subscribe SLIS-ADJUNCTS firstname lastname (ie. subscribe SLIS-ADJUNCTS John Smith).
